Who We Are

"The Disaster Management Resource and Research Centre - INDIA (DMRRC-INDIA), envisioned as a pivotal force in disaster management capacity building, has evolved significantly since its inception in the year 2000. Originating as Rescue Operation No.1, it transformed into a Certification Center in 2014, assuming the mantle of DMRRC-INDIA. Our focus spans human capacity building, training, research, inventions, resource development, documentation, discussions, rescue relief operations, and policy advocacy in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Functioning at the nexus of Preparedness and Prevention, we believe in minimizing life loss and fostering a risk-free India. Rescue Operation No.1 and DMRRC-INDIA have played a vital role in instigating disaster risk reduction initiatives, reaching communities with the goal of safeguarding lives and ensuring a risk-free India. Proudly supporting various ministries, departments, academic institutions, and technical organizations nationally and internationally, our multi-disciplinary core team, the National Rescue Corps (NRC), comprises dedicated professionals and volunteers committed to nation-building during emergencies and disasters. At the heart of our vision is the commitment to 'Save Lives.' DMRRC-INDIA aspires to forge a disaster risk-free India by cultivating a cadre of multidisciplinary NRC cadets at all levels, prioritizing prevention and preparedness. Noteworthy among our contributions is the development of Low-Cost Early Warning Systems, currently adopted by the Tamil Nadu Government. The Flood Warning System in Tirupur District stands as a unique and cost-effective model for the nation. Our successful post-disaster operations in Tamil Nadu and other states underscore our efficacy. We extend an open invitation for individuals to join us as volunteers, offering an opportunity to learn and serve the country. Aspiring volunteers can also join the National Rescue Corps or participate as technical experts. Additionally, our online platform provides free training on Disaster Risk Reduction, empowering individuals to contribute to the collective resilience of our nation."
